Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) military service members are very young, especially those who are at greatest risk for military casualties. A large portion of LGBT service members live in California, where the defense department has a high presence there."The president has denounced the [Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy] that discriminates against them, on the campaign trail two years ago and as commander in chief of the armed forces, but now government attorneys are fighting the decision that struck it down." On May 28, 2010 the DADT policy was repealed by the house, and for only eight days, the DADT policy didn't exist. Then Government officials were able to repeal that repeal and argumentation is underway for the permanent repeal of the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy. (Gettleman)
